Diverse Music, Local Artists Shine at Celebrate AMERI'KANA
The annual Celebrate AMERI'KANA Music & Arts Festival attracted thousands of attendees for a day full of art, music, and community.
Hosted in Kansas City's Historic Northeast neighborhood on July 27, Celebrate AMERI’KANA brought together national, local, and youth performers, celebrating the rich and diverse music scene of Kansas City. The annual celebration of art, music, and community is led by Art as Mentorship, a non-profit that empowers young artists.
The event showcased the fusion of American music genres, including blues, metal, gospel, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, and son jarocho. Musical performers included Making Movies, Rubén Albarran, Kevin Morby, Justus West, Renee Goust, Trap Jazz, Friendly Thieves, and The Salvation Choir.
This year, AltCap was proud to sponsor the Mercado, a market that featured dozens of artists and makers from around Kansas City.
Founded by Making Movies vocalist and guitarist Enrique Che, Art as Mentorship offers a variety of programs for young musicians in Kansas City, including the Rebel Song Academy, a music curriculum that pairs real-world skills and mental health principles with musical lessons.
Enjoy a few of these captured moments from this year’s vibrant celebration.
