Think! Plan! Execute! Pitch Competition Celebrates Entrepreneurial Growth and Community Collaboration

At AltCap, we believe that when entrepreneurs are equipped with the right tools, training, and relationships, they can transform their communities.

The Think! Plan! Execute Pitch Competition reflected this belief in action.

Delivered through a partnership between Foundations EDC and the Cummins C.A.R.E. program, the pitch competition featured 15 founders from across Dallas and offered a variety of prizes.

Designed to strengthen the area’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, the project focused on supporting emerging small business owners — particularly those from underserved communities — as they moved from idea to implementation.

Through hands-on training, coaching, and exposure, the program gave participants both the confidence and the practical knowledge needed to advance their business goals.

Over several weeks, 15 entrepreneurs participated in a structured cohort experience focused on business planning, financial readiness, customer development, and effective pitching. Expert coaches from Foundations EDC provided personalized guidance, while tools from the Cummins CARE initiative helped participants prepare for capital readiness and long-term sustainability.

Think! Plan! Execute! was led by Darlisa Diltz of Foundations EDC and featured facilitators Mar Howard of Emerge Innovations Group, Cameo Duncan of SDFP Innovation Center, Charles McElrath of Vista Bank, and Ashley D’Amico of Watermark CDC.

The program culminated in a live pitch competition, where each entrepreneur presented their business to a panel of judges. The judges evaluated clarity of business model, preparedness, and overall execution, ultimately selecting four finalists.

“I’m grateful for the partnership between AltCap and the Cummins C.A.R.E. fund and the work we are doing to support entrepreneurs in Dallas,” said Shaundra Jacobs, AltCap’s Market President in Texas. “We are committed to continuing this work and helping these business owners move toward long-term success.”

While only a few participants walked away with awards, every entrepreneur left with expanded skills, deeper insights, and meaningful new connections.

The program showcased the value of accessible entrepreneurial support—and demonstrated what’s possible when organizations come together to provide the resources small business owners need to grow.
