AltCap Welcomes New Heartland Market President Anissa Brown

Anissa Brown, Heartland Market President, AltCap

AltCap, an impact-focused small business lender, is proud to welcome a mission-driven community leader to our growing team.

Anissa Brown joins AltCap as our Heartland Market President, where she will lead the organization's efforts to expand access to capital for underestimated entrepreneurs across Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.

"AltCap's mission reflects who I am as a person," Anissa said. "I have a heart for this work — it is my passion to serve others, especially those in underestimated communities. Having the opportunity to make an even greater investment in the people and places I care about truly fills my cup."

Anissa brings more than two decades of experience in sales, customer service, business development, and organizational leadership with extensive experience in banking, commercial lending, financial education, and community development.

Throughout her career, she has held roles including Vice President and Business Banking Officer at financial institutions across the region, earning multiple performance recognitions along the way. Her focus has always been the same: helping businesses get the funding they need to grow and thrive.

Beyond her professional work, Anissa is a deeply rooted community leader in the Kansas City region. She currently serves as President of the Urban Financial Services Coalition of Greater KC, an Executive Board Member of the Kansas Workforce Partnership, and an Advisory Board Member of Economy Trade School, Inc.

She also volunteers with Pathways Financial Education, Youth Lead KC, High Aspirations, The Learning Club-KC, Power 100 Summit, and Junior Achievement.

A proud Wyandotte County resident, Anissa attends Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and lives with her husband, four daughters, and family dog. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Southern University and A&M College and her Master of Science in Management from Baker University in Baldwin, KS.

"Throughout my career, I've met business owners where they are, at their level of understanding and their stage in the business cycle," Anissa said. "I believe access to capital and a clear understanding of how to operate a business are essential. When entrepreneurs have both, communities grow stronger and together, we pay it forward."

Entrepreneurs in KansasMissouri, and Nebraska who want to connect with Anissa or learn more about AltCap's financing products can schedule time with her directly or reach out at abrown@altcap.org or 816-298-3967.
